Ritchie Collins was born Nov. 23, 1936, in Mammoth Spring, Ark., the son of Oliver Collins and Rita Washam Collins. He died Aug. 18, 2007, in Salem, Ark., at the age of 70.
He was united in marriage July 19, 1971, at St. Louis, Mo., to Myrtle Housdan.
Ritchie Collins was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army.
He was employed as plant manager for Smith and Davis Medical Equipment for several years.
He is survived by: his wife Myrtle Collins of the family home in Mammoth Spring; seven children, Charmagne Kiser of St. Louis, Mo., Marvin Lee of St. Louis, Mo., Craig Lee of San Diego, Calif., Danny Lee and wife, Jackie of St. Louis, Mo., Ritchie A. Collins of Washington state, Bonnie Gildersleeve and husband, Bill of Mammoth Spring, and Randy Collins and wife, Jaci of Fordland, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Freddie Collins and wife Shirley of Mammoth Spring; one sister, Nadine Reynolds and husband, Billy of Camp, Ark.; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, William Oliver Gildersleeve.
Funeral services were held Aug. 23 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Rev. Gil Hogue officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery at Mammoth Spring with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
