Eunice Mae (Haynes) Besson, of Viola, Ark., daughter of the late Adolphus (Doc)?Haynes and Nova Bettis Haynes, was born Jan. 21, 1918, in Viola, Ark. She died Oct. 2, 2007, at South Fork River Therapy and Living Center in Salem at the age of 89.
She was united in marriage to Heaber Harrison Marchant on Aug. 8, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1988, and she married Louis Besson who also preceded her in death.
She owned and operated many cafes during her lifetime.
She was a member of the Viola First Baptist Church.
She enjoyed fishing and playing a good game of pitch, rook and dominoes with her friends and family.
Survivors include: her daughter, Loetta Bratcher and husband Bob of Viola; daughter-in-law Roberta Thomas and husband, Frank of Bakersfield, Calif., stepson, Butch Besson and wife Mary of Pekin, Ill.; six grandchildren: JuDene Stroud and husband Vernon of Siloam Springs, Ark., Chuck Downum and wife Debbie of Viola, Kyle Marchant, Kevin Marchant, Kris Marchant and Frankie Thomas all of Bakers-field, Calif.; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Haynes of Viola; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; a son, Travis Marchant; a brother, Ed Haynes; and her father and mother.
Funeral services were held Oct. 6 at the Viola First Baptist Church with burial following in the Viola Cemetery Arrange-ments were under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
