Johney Orphus (J.O.) Reasons of Bakersfield, Mo., son of the late Drew Columbus Reasons and Dicie Ann Guffey Reasons, was born Nov. 15, 1917, in Vidette, Ark. He died Oct. 9, 2004, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, at the age of 86.
He married Lela Naomi Morris on Sept. 7, 1940, in Vidette. He was a farmer and member of County Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include: children -- Ansel (Joyce) Reasons of Bakersfield, Dean Reasons of Mountain Home, and Gwenda Belt (Tom Gargione) of Bakersfield; grandchildren -- Regeana Baughman of Mountain Home, Flesha Watkins of Bakersfield, Tammy Wray of Dora, Mo., and Justin Simpson of Bakersfield; three stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife; three grandchildren -- Donald, Darren and Deana Reasons; three brothers -- Avis, Willie and Walter Reasons; three sisters -- Hettie Reasons, Lola Dodson, and Hazel Hitalbitle; and his parents.
Services were Oct. 12 at County Line Baptist Church, with burial in County Line Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
Memorials may be made to County Line Cemetery or Hurst Cemetery.
