OREGON COUNTY -- A Thayer man tuned himself in to the Oregon County Sheriff's Department last week on felony child molestation charges.
Korey D. Whitelock, 26, of Thayer was charged with felony child molestation involving a girl less than 14 years old.
The Oregon County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said the incident occurred between Jan. 1, 2001, and Feb. 6, 2001.
Whitelock posted a $4,500 bond and a court date has yet to be set.
In Oregon County Court Oct. 4, 37th District Judge R. "Jack" Garrett sentenced an Alton man, Jason VanWinkle, to four years in state prison on a probation violation charge.
A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said VanWinkle has been in the Oregon County jail at Alton since June 15 when he violated his probation on charges of assault, possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, and possession of intoxicants.
Deputies with the sheriff's department transferred him to state prison in Bonne Terre Oct. 6.
