Wendell Jennings Owens, 73, was born Feb. 6, 1932, at Brockwell, Ark. He died at his home in Cashmere, Wash., Aug. 20, 2005.

He spent most of his working years in the fruit industry. He enjoyed painting and gardening and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his children -- Terry Owens of Cashmere, Linda Trimble of Cashmere and Rick Owens of Wenatchee, Wash.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother, Ollie Owens of Union, Ark.; his brothers and sisters -- Lauretta Freeman of Twin Falls, Idaho, Hazel Powell of Yakima, Wash., Jerry Owens of Napavine, Wash., Sonny Owens of West Plains, Mo., Ed Owens of Salem, and Charles Owens of Salem, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Owens of Cashmere; his father, C.L. (Spikey) Owens of Union, Ark., and his brother, Larry Owens of Oxford.

Graveside services were held at Evergreen Memorial Park in Cashmere, Wash., with Pastor Alan Jarboe officiating.
