James Lester Dover, 83, of Salem, Ark., son of the late John Henry Dover and Eva Romines Dover, was born June 17, 1922, in Heart, Ark. He died Sept. 15, 2005, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark.
He was united in marriage to Vernitha York on Jan. 2, 1944, in Salem. To this union three children were born.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a self-employed plumber and electrician and was a member of the Salem Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Vernitha Dover of the home in Salem; his children, Sherry (Pete) Braker of West Fork, Ark., Michael Dover of Salem, and Lisa (Jay) Arnold of Melbourne; his grandchildren, Craig (Christie) Clayton of Hindsville, Ark., Christal Hughes of Arkadelphia, Ark., Chet (Memori) Clayton of Fruitland Park, Fla., Angie (Matt) Moix of Conway, Ark., Valerie (Clayton) Malone of Blytheville, Ark., and Jed Schales of Melbourne; nine great-grandchildren; his identical twin brother, Vester Joe Dover of Little Rock; his sister, Goldie Montgomery of Flippin, Ark., and a host of other relatives and friends.
He as preceded in death by two brothers, Bert and Virgil Dover, one sister, Bertha Deavers and his father and mother.
The funeral service was held Sept. 18 at the Salem Church of Christ with burial in the Morriston Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
