Polls says 74 percent in favor of covered boat docks

Thursday, December 5, 2002

An announcement was made at the MRID Commissioners meeting Nov. 19 that installation of the new irrigation system for the golf course is slated to begin around January 2003 or sooner.

The financial report was read with the following information: income for the month of October totaled $63,938.30; expenses were $48,563.72; for a net gain of $15,374.58. Year-to-date income totaled $508,464,83; expenses were $488,859.47 for a net gain of $19,605.36.

The pro shop reported 2,206 rounds of golf played for the month of October. Additional jackets have arrived at the pro shop in time for Christmas. Ladies golf gift certificates must be redeemed by Dec. 31. Men's golf certificate redemption has been extended until March 31.

A poll was taken and presented to the commissioners regarding covered boat docks prior to the meeting. Around 74 percent who signed the poll were in favor of allowing covered boat docks. After some discussion the issue was tabled until a meeting can be scheduled to re-write MRID's boat dock regulations and obtaining a city ordinance to police the regulations.

Activities the commissioners have been involved with include painting the recreation center building and large pool building. A new pump has been purchased for the large swimming pool. Plans are in process for sand-blasting and plastering the large pool.

Prison labor has been cleaning up the grounds around the club house. They will also be working on North Lake dam. Playground equipment at Veterans Park that has been deteriorating will be removed. Golf course crews have been working on the leaf cleanup.
