Employees at the Fulton County Courthouse decorated a 6-foot Angel Tree Dec. 2 which can be viewed in the hallway of the building. The tree is an annual community service project to help make children's Christmas better, said Donna Hall, deputy treasurer at the courthouse.
The public is invited to the courthouse to choose either a boy or girl angel from the tree and purchase a gift for the child who otherwise might not receive a gift for Christmas.
Hall said the Fulton County Department of Human Services gathers information for needy children including their age, gender and clothing size and provides the information for the project.
Names are not placed on the angels, but a number is assigned for each child. The information is placed on each angel.
Hall said the packages need to be returned to the courthouse by Dec. 16 at noon, with the angel on the gift. The presents are placed under the tree and employees from the DHS office will distribute the gifts to each family before Christmas.
