Mary Lueler Combs, 94, of Thayer died Jan. 31 in West Plains.

Born June 4, 1910 in Oregon County, she was the daughter of John Henry Hand and Peggy Elizabth Vanzant Hand.

She married Lee F. Combs in December 1931 in Oregon County. He preceeded her in death in 1990.

She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was a member of Cotton Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Alick Henry Combs of Hermann; three daughters -- Dorthy Lee Godwin and husband, Loyd, of Biggers, Ark., Vercie Elizabth Hirsch and husband, Gary, of Thayer, and Eva Lucille Hollaway and husband, Charles, of Couch; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grancdhilren; two great-great grandchildren; and a daughter -in-law, Betty Combs of West Plains.

She was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James Charlie Combs; an infant daughter, Mary Lou Combs; a grat-granddaughter, Laken Haley Deaton; and a brother, Jewel O. Hand.

The funeral was Feb. 3 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with the Rev. Charles Hollaway officiating under the direction of Carter Funeral Home in Thayer. Burial was in Cotton Creek Cemetery.
