Alice Merle McHenry 83, of Salem, daughter of the late Robert Lee and Stella Pearl Reed Haney, was born Aug. 21, 1920, in Frenchtown, Ark. She died Sept 14, 2003, at Fulton County Nursing Home in Salem.
She married Loyd McHenry Oct. 23, 1945, in Mammoth Spring, Ark. To this union two sons were born, She was employed by Tri County Shirt Factory for eight years as an inspector. She was a member of Moko Church of Christ, Salem VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she held the office of president for two years, and the Moko EH Club.
Survivors include her husband, Loyd McHenry of the family home; her sons and daughters-in-law - Keith and Donna McHenry, and David and Lee Ann McHenry, all of Salem; a brother, Gene Haney of Mammoth Spring; two sisters - her twin, Beryl Green, and Becky Howell, both of Mammoth Spring; four grandchildren - Mark McHenry and wife, Tina, and Jon McHenry, of Conway, Stephanie McHenry and Celina McHenry, both of Salem; one great-grandchild, Lauren McHenry; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers - Luther, Oren, Claude, Woodrow, R.L., and Charles Haney; one sister, Cora Lee Phelps, and her father and mother.
The funeral service was Sept. 16 at Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem, Ark., with Duane Warden officiating.
Burial was at Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
