George "Eddy" Perkins

Born 9-15-1931 -- Died 9-28-2003

George Edward (Eddy) Perkins, of Salem, Ark., son of Pearl Ball Perkins and the late Hasadore Perkins was born Sept. 15, 1931 in Camp, Ark. He died Sept. 28, 2003, at Salem at the age of 72.

He spent his working years as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a machine operator/inspector for Caterpillar, Inc.

He was a member of the Salem First Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Pearl Perkins of Moko, Ark.; a brother, Bill Perkins of Moko, Ark.; two sisters -- Opal Holloway of Rienzi, Miss., and Rita Tutor of Chandler, Texas; two stepsons -- Darrell Duane Matthews of Pekin, Ill., and Archie Bohannon of Peoria, Ill.,; two stepdaughters -- Myrtle Zabukovec of Pekin, Ill., and Karen Sedor of Inglis, Fla.; ten grandchildren and one-great-grandson; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by both wives, Nellie L. Burkhead Perkins and Betty May Matthews Perkins; his father, Hasadore Perkins; a sister, Lois Edna Perkins; and three brothers -- Carl Hasadore Perkins, Loyd Ray Perkins and Russell Clarence Perkins; and a stepson, Edgar Strevels.

Services were Oct. 2 at Salem First Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Leon Graves and Bro. Charles Barnett officiating. Burial was in the Stateline Cemetery at Moko, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.

Pallbearers were Jerry Holloway, Ray Holloway, Larry Travestead, Dick Perkins, James Yancey, Steve Tutor, and James Russell Perkins.

Memorials preferred to the Salem First Missionary Baptist Church.
