CRASH

Thursday, October 9, 2003

Joseph Gaskins, 15, of Salem was traveling east on Highway 62, 5 miles east of Salem, when his 1993 Ford Ranger pickup truck ran off the right side of the road Oct. 1, according to Cpl Ronnie Stewart of the Arkansas State Police. Gaskins traveled along the shoulder and through the ditch striking a private drive embankment, Stewart reported. The truck became airborne and traveled 63 feet through a ditch, struck a road embankment, vaulted onto its top and spun 15 feet in a clockwise direction before stopping in the northbound lane of Liberty Hill Road on its top. Stewart estimated damages to the vehicle at $9,000. The truck was towed from the scene by Lynn's Auto Salvage. Gaskins was transported by Fulton County Ambulance Service to Fulton County Hospital where he was treated and released, said Fulton County Sheriff Lloyd Martz. Photo/Ariola.
