Born 1-11-1911 -- Died 5-30-2005
C.J. Cotton, age 94, of Smithville, Ark., died May 30, 2005, at his home. He was born Jan. 11, 1911, at Mena, Ark., to Gilbert Henry and Sophia Musick Cotton. He was a farmer and a sorghum maker and member of the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Eldon Cotton and Allan Cotton both of Smithville, and Clyde Cotton of Cave City; two brothers -- Gene Cotton of Abilene, Texas and Lawrence Cotton of Nacogdoches, Texas; ten grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vina Cotton; one daughter, Roxie Qualls; three brothers -- Ralph Cotton, Dillard Cotton and Clinton Cotton; four sisters -- Leona Smith, Inez Kirk, Vernie Cotton and Vergie Cotton; and one grandson, Rodman Qualls.
The funeral service was June 2 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Grayden Milligan officiating. Burial followed in the Parsley Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Danny Myrick, Scott Pounds Charlie Cotton, Charles Hutchison, Tommy Thompson and Darrell Parsley.
