Lela Mae Hubbs, 70, of Horseshoe Bend, died Sept. 12, 2003, at the St. Louis University Hospital. She was born March 5, 1933, in Union County, Ill., daughter of Albert and Ruth Hastings Watkins.
She was retired from Flosheim Shoe Company in Anna, Ill., where she worked as a top stitcher. She was married to William W. Hubbs May 10, 1956, in Pocahontas. She was a member of the Ozark Mountain Music Makers since 1974, and served as both a secretary and reporter for the organization. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are a daughter, Betty Fisher of Jonesboro, Ill.; one son, Milton Wayne Hubbs of Jonesboro, Ill.; three brothers -- Robert Watkins of Julian, Calif., Paul Watkins of Laughlin, Nev., and Howard Watkins of Springfield, Ill.; and two grandsons -- Will and Blake Hubbs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Kathern Marie Hubbs; and a sister, Zelma Sweitzer.
