Miles for Meals raises $1,800 for Thayer Senior Center

Thirty participants walked over 100 miles in the recent Miles For Meals held in Thayer for the Senior Citizen Center, raising about $1,800.

Among the participants were: Aleasha Clark, daughter of Nikki and Jason Clark and granddaughter of Bob and Sheila Smith and Boyd and Lavern Clark. Aleasha Clark was the youngest walker participating; Bernice Cantrell and Agnes Johnson, oldest walkers; Jessie Mae Burkhead, who raised the most money; Leona Fuller and Glen Fraley who each walked 10 miles, the most miles walked; and Roy and Jim Smith from Springfield, who traveled the longest distance to participate in the walk-a-thon.

Fun and Friends Senior Center and the Southwest Office on Aging thank everyone who helped with this event. The money raised will be used for the food program. The Thayer center serves many of Oregon County residents every day.
