Couch School Board members were informed that a recent A+ committee meeting yielded 55 students in grades nine through 12 are enrolled in the A+ program. All interested community members were encouraged to support the program and to attend the A+ committee meeting Oct. 6.
School board members approved the 2002-03 PDC activities summary and the 2003-04 Professional Development Committee Budget as well as bus routes for this school year.
A discussion was held regarding starting both girls' and boys' golf teams at the school. Administrators were instructed to see how many students would be interested and what would be involved to start the program. The item was tabled until the October meeting.
School Board members adopted the conflict of interest resolution and approved the revised MSBA board policies.
The principals presented attendance reports and discussed enrollment. Board members were informed of upcoming extracurricular events. Interactive TV situations were discussed. Couch school has been approved for an After School Program grant which will begin the second semester. It was also informed of plans to attend the upcoming federal programs conference. Superintendent Rolla Fraley informed school board members of bus problems and needed maintenance repairs.
The next Couch School Board meeting will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 in the school library.
