Yester Daze set at Myrtle

MYRTLE -- Myrtle Yester Daze activities will kickoff at 7 a.m. Sept. 27 at the Myrtle VFD with a flag raising. A pancake breakfast will be cooked and served by fire department officials from 7 to 9 a.m.

An amateur photo contest has been set for 8:30 a.m. and quilt show for 9 a.m. A washer pitching contest has also been planned for 9 a.m.

Parade lineup will be at 9 a.m. and the horse and rider category will be judged at 9:30 a.m. during the lineup. Deloris Larsen will serve as this year's parade grand marshal.

A lumberjack contest has been added to this year's festival. It will consist of several different wood events. Participants are asked to bring their own chainsaws. The community service awards and poster contest winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m.

Kids' games are planned for 12:45 p.m., and an old fashioned women's chore relay is set for 1:45 p.m. as well as a new contest, the babyback rib eating contest.

Mule jumping, barrel racing and much more will be enjoyed throughout the afternoon.

There will be craft booths, T-shirts and caps available the day of the festival.
