The descendants of Henry Tucker and his two wives, Mary "Polly" Grant and Sally Myers of Washington County, Va., and Kinchen and Sarah Brady Tucker of Fulton County will meet Oct. 4-5 at the North Arkansas Electric Co-op Building in Salem.
Kinchen, eldest son of Henry and Polly, moved his family to Fulton County in the 1850s. The population of Fulton County swelled greatly with the arrival of the Tuckers along with their children (11 of whom made the move) and offspring, because they were among the first settlers here.
Kinchen Tucker was instrumental in starting the Church of Christ in Agnos, which is the oldest church in the county to hold continuous services. The first services were held in the Tucker home in 1858.
Many Tucker residents still reside in Fulton and surrounding counties and have been active members of their communities throughout the past 155 years. Others will be coming from as far away as Oregon, where several Tuckers moved in the late 1870s. This reunion will mark the first time that many of the cousins will have met in person.
The reunion starts at 9 a.m. Oct. 4 with introductions, sharing of information, and a silent auction of handmade crafts made by attendees. A potluck lunch and a photo session will follow.
Many attendees will attend Agnos Church of Christ on Sunday morning and eat lunch at the electric co-op building in Salem. Those interested in attending should contact Jeannie Beasley, P.O. Box 206, Salado, AR 72575.
For registration information, phone Jeannie at 870-251-1903 or e-mail her at email@example.com.
