The body of a 49-year-old Izard County woman has been sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab for an autopsy after she was found dead Jan. 28 in her Melbourne apartment.
Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said investigators do not suspect foul play.
Lawrence said, "The woman appears to have been dead for several days and it's common procedure to have an autopsy performed."
Izard County Coroner Eddie Howard pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Lawrence said the woman lived alone and was unemployed.
Izard County deputy Ed Solick and State Police investigator Dennis Simmons are handling the investigation.
Preliminary autospy results are expected to be available by the end of the week.
