State to recognize Teacher of Year

Thursday, February 3, 2005

OREGON COUNTY -- Oregon County residents have been invited to participate in the Missouri Teacher of the Year Contest.

Teachers, students and parents from Alton, Couch, Koshkonong and Thayer Schools may nominate any teachers they chose through Feb. 28.

The teacher winning the award will receive $1,000 and a $500 grant will be presented to the school where the winning teacher teaches.

There are more than 75,000 accredited teachers in Missouri. Those wishing to nominate a teacher must submit a nomination, in 250 words or less, telling why the teacher should receive this award. Nominees will be judges on their ability to motivate students, their special talents, experience and any awards or recognitions they have received. Winners will be announced during Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

For more information or to receive a nomination form contact Ray Palermo at 203-634-7251.
