Kathryn Diane Brown, 51, of Republic, Mo., and a former resident of West Plains and Thayer, died Dec. 31, 2003, at her home. Born Aug. 15, 1952, at Thayer, she was the daughter of Clara Jean Biddle Phenix and the late Othel G. Son Ivey.

On Nov. 7, 1970, she was married at West Plains, Mo., to Lonnie Pruett. To this union three children were born -- Laura, John and Sandra. On July 21, 1989, she was married at Miami, Okla., to David Brown. She was an employee at Aurora Luggage Works. Her family will remember her as a caring person, always putting the needs of others ahead of herself.

Survivors include her husband, David Brown, of the family home; two daughters -- Laura Bales and husband, Bruce of Bakersfield, Mo., and Sandy Dawson and husband, Jeff, of West Plains; two sons -- John Pruett of West Plains and Eric Brown and wife, Lisa, of Clever, Mo.; six grandchildren -- Andalyn Warren, Ryan Bales, Brevin Bales, Briar Johnson, Madison Brown, and Miranda Brown; her mother, Jean Phenix of Batesville, Ark.; three brothers -- Gary Ivey and wife, Lorraine of Rogers, Ark., Travis Phenix of Austin, Texas, and Kelly Phenix and wife, Tonya, of Madisonville, Tenn.; a sister, Stephanie Brown and husband, Jim, of Batesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Stephanie Brown of Springfield; three aunts -- Edo Howard of Thayer, Lois Hubbard of Old Hickory, Tenn., and Opal Reeves of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; several nieces and nephews; and special cousins -- Karlene Groover and husbnad, Alan and Mary Carawford and hsuband, Alan, both of Mammoth Spring.

She was preceded in death by her father; her step-father, Charles R. Phenix; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Bonnie Brown.

The funeral was Jan. 5 at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic, Mo., with the Rev. Bert Miller officiating.

A graveside service was Jan. 5 at the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, with Robert Brown officiating. Arrangments were by Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
