Born 8-8-1954 -- Died 2-5-2004
Jonny Keith Smith, son of Imogene Langley Peace and Ray Peace, was born Aug. 8, 1954, in Thayer, Mo., and died Feb. 5, 2004, in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 49 years.
He was a graduate of Thayer High School and later served on the Board of Education for the Thayer School District for several years. He was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for over 20 years. He was a volunteer for Thayer Fun and Friends Senior Citizens and enjoyed spending time with another special cousin, Greg Langley at Langley Animal Clinic in Thayer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thayer. He was a devoted, loving and caring father, son and brother, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his daughter, Leah Smith of Thayer; his son, Jonathan Smith of Thayer; his parents -- Ray and Imogene Peace of Thayer; five brothers -- Sonny Smith and wife, Marla of Denver, Colo., Bob Smith and wife, Sheila of Thayer, Bill Pitchford and wife, Cindy of Thayer, Jack Peace and wife, Leanne of Columbia, Mo., and Ed Smith of Thayer; special cousins, James and Reva Langley of Jonesboro, Dorothy Meeks of Fenton, Mo., and Peggy Kelley of Thayer; special family friend, Gina Tucker of Thayer; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral was Feb. 9 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Dr. Bill Banks officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thayer with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc., of Thayer.
Pallbearers were Greg Langley, Joe Flynn, Ron Myers, Noval Wilbanks, Bob Tucker and Cliff Hawkins.
