Charles (Chuck) Morgan, 67, of Oxford, Ark., died Nov. 13, 2007, after a five week battle with brain cancer. Charles was born Dec. 29, 1939 in Anderson, Ind., to the late, Charles B. and Tulsa Morgan who were born and raised in Arkansas around Black Rock and Bono, as were the two generations before them.
Charles loved life, fishing, camping, was an accomplished cook, an avid reader and loved pickin' and grinning his guitar with friends. At the time of his death, Charles was writing a mystery novel call "Ozark Crystal." He also wrote the words and music to a trucker's song called "Redneck Hauler" which was recorded just last year.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge Anaheim 207, Santa Ana Scottish rite, a 32nd Degree Mason, the El Bekel Shrines and the Fraternal Order of the Moose Lodge. He served in the U.S. Navy and was retired as the chief finance officer for a military manufacturing company.
Charles was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, Masonic brother, uncle, veteran and faithful friend to many.
Charles is survived by: his wife and soul mate of 50 years, Charleen Ruth Morgan and their three children; son, Christopher Scott Morgan and his wife Cynthia and their children, Chelsey, Cassandra and Jake of Santa Ana, Calif.; daughter, Rhonda Lynn Reeve and her husband John and their son, Stephen Ryan of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; son, Matthew Morgan and his wife Sharon and their children, JJ and Savanna of Oxford; and a brother, Michael Morgan of New York; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding his death were: his parents and three sisters, Orlis, Melba and Paula.
A private memorial will be held in the near future when all family members can be present.
Cremation services were under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
