Friday, June 20, 2003

THAYER -- Thayer Municipal Judge William T. Hass has taken a leave of absence to travel to Iraq under a State Department project to rebuild the county's legal system.

Thayer City Council approved Hass's request for a leave of absence leave at its June 10 meeting.

In other business, council approved a truck pull at the rodeo arena this summer to be sponsored by the local Lions Club. It also voted to donate $300 to the annual Fourth of July celebration.

Council members voted to renew the dumping contracts with Ken Moore and King John's.

They also voted to give a plumber's license to Jonathan Thomas.

Council members were asked where the city was in its attempt to hire an economic developer and where it is concerning getting water into the industrial park.

Mayor Allen Deckard informed those in attendance that in the near future there would be a special meeting to discuss the economic developer position.

He also said the city was still waiting on grant money to start the water project.

Thayer City Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at Thayer City Hall.
