Thursday, September 13, 2007

THAYER -- In conjunction with the Thayer Alumni Homecoming, the Thayer Area Arts Council will be hosting an Art Show and Sale.

The show and sale will be held at the Oregon County Country Music Theater located at Fifth and Walnut Street in Thayer.

According to Judith Cornelius, show organizer, all forms of original art, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional will be accepted.

"The purpose of the exhibit of work is to showcase various media of visual arts produced by area artists of the Ozarks," Cornelius said. She added that a large percentage of this collection will be available for purchase. "Many homes, businesses and offices have space available for works of art, and what better way than to highlight and support local and area talent," she said

Cornelius said artists can bring their work to the theater Sept. 29 or Sept. 30 from 1 to 5 p.m. The entry fee for one piece will be $5 and $2 for each additional piece up to five entries per artist.

"Work will be displayed and judged and will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 4 through Oct. 7 when the show hours will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Artists may pick up their work from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 7," she said.

Two and three dimensional work must be original. Two-dimensional work must be wired for hanging.

Cornelius said the show will be juried. Eight awards of excellence, six honorable mention awards, best of show award which will include $50 cash, and a peoples choice award will be chosen.
