Born 5-17-1916 -- Died 9-5-2007

Vernon Mae Shaw of Salem, Ark., daughter of the late Hubert and Myrl (Whittle) Payne, was born on May 17, 1916, in Grenada, Miss. She died Sept. 5, 2007, at the Southfork River Therapy and Living Center in Salem at the age of 91.

She was united in marriage to Delbert Booth Shaw on June 25, 1933, and to this union, four children were born. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Veron was a member of the Rosa Baptist Church in Luxora, Ark.

She is survived by: two daughters, Dixie Harris of Salem and Wanda Sawyer of Jonesboro, Ark.; a son-in-law, Charles Darnell of Cuero, Texas; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; son, James Bryant Shaw; daughter, Frances Darnell; great-granddaughter, Louise Catlin, brother, Ray Payne; and two sisters, Mattie Rozzell and Wynette Brothers.

Memorial services were held Sept. 8 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Arrangements were by Barker Funeral Home.
