Izard County deputies make arrests

A burglar, who made his way into the restaurant at Franklin during the late hours of Nov. 7, was caught before having time to spend any of the money he had taken. Timothy O. Courtney, 33, of Horseshoe Bend was arrested as the vehicle he was in was exiting the parking lot of Colby's Restaurant.

Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that the department was provided information that a burglary could possibly occur at the restaurant and sheriff's deputies were dispatched to set up surveillance.

Lawrence said the front door of the business had been kicked in or otherwise forced open and that a moneybox containing paper currency and coins was found in the car.

Courtney's front pockets contained $250, resulting in a total of $580 recovered. The door and frame to the restaurant sustained damage estimated at $200.

Courtney has been charged with commercial burglary, a class C felony, and theft of property, a class C felony. He remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $10,000 bond.

A person charged in August in the theft of money from a Calico Rock business was returned to Izard County to answer the charges. David Bruce Roush Jr., 22, had been on the run since Aug. 8 when he fled the Snappy Mart in Calico Rock and was arrested by authorities in Arizona.

Roush was transported from Phoenix over the weekend and is in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Roush is charged with theft of property, a class C felony, as the result of being accused of stealing almost $1,900 from the business.

In other activities, Donnie Gale Vest, 53, of Rogers was arrested ?Nov. 9 on charges of driving while intoxicated -- second offense, operating a vehicle without insurance and driving left of center. Vest posted bond the following day in the amount of $3,140 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Linda Marie Burchett, 49, of Melbourne was arrested Nov. 5 on charges of domestic battery third degree and driving while intoxicated. Burchett posted bond in the amount of $1,000 on Nov. 7 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Bradley Don Skidmore, 29, of Oxford was arrested ?Nov. 7 on the charge of public intoxication. Skidmore made provisions for bond and was released the following day from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Austin Lee Burrow, 18, of the Guion area was arrested ?Nov. 10 on the charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and minor in possession of intoxicating liquor. Burrow posted bond in the amount of $1,710 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Charged with possession of liquor by a minor on Nov. 10 was David Michael Fiss, 18, of Salesville. Fiss posted bond in the amount of $605 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Frank A. Bruyette, 25, of Melbourne was arrested Nov. 5 on a warrant for failure to pay fines. Bruyette posted bond in the amount of $458 and was released.

Ambra Rose Cox, 26, of Calico Rock was arrested Nov. 6 on a criminal contempt of court warrant. Cox posted bond in the amount of $1,185 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Steven Wayne Tate, 26, of Melbourne was arrested Nov. 10 on a failure to appear warrant. Tate made provisions for bond the following day and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Lynn Young of Calico Rock was transported Nov. 8 to the Arkansas Department of Correction to serve a parole violation sentence.

Nicholas Levi Beard, 18, of Pineville was arrested?Nov. 1 for possession of a controlled substance. Beard posted pond in the amount of $1,230 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Bradley Don Skidmore was arrested Oct. 31 on charges of reckless driving, fleeing and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Skidmore posted bond the following day in the amount of $3,060 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Robert William Dennison, 34, of Oxford was arrested Oct. 31 on charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespass, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Dennison posted bond Nov. 2 in the amount of $1,000 and was released.

Heather M. Powell, 18, of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Nov. 2 on charges of driving while intoxicated and possession of an instrument of crime. Powell was later released after posting bond in the amount of $1,910.

Christopher D.?Powell, 29, of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Nov. 2 on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of an instrument of crime. Powell posted bond in the amount of $2,335 and was released.
