Sharing the bounty

Wednesday, December 19, 2007

Mammoth Spring Food Pantry organizers were at Mammoth Spring School Dec. 14 to pick up the food the students had collected for the new pantry.

Jennifer Crow and Glenda Pryor were the representatives from the pantry that picked up the food items.

"We are very appreciative of the help the students and the staff at the school have given us by helping gather food to feed the needy in our area," Crowe said.

The food collected at the school was distributed by food pantry volunteers Dec. 17 at the Old Episcopal Church in Mammoth Spring.

"This is not just a Christmas event. We plan to find a location for the pantry and keep it open year-round," Pryor said.

The pantry is open to anyone living in Mammoth Spring. "We will require those needing food to supply proof of residence and the pantry will be income based," Pryor said.

Crowe said donations of non-perishable food may be dropped off at Simmons Bank or Mammoth Spring City Hall.

Monetary donations may be made out to the Mammoth Spring Food Pantry and dropped off at Simmons Bank.
