John W. "Bill" Walls Jr., 72, of Hardy, Ark., died Dec. 12, 2007, at the Veterans ?Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.
He was born Sep. 21, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., the son of John W. Walls Sr. and Rita (Swords) Walls. ?
He was united in marriage to Ruth Murphey on May 14, 1957 in Newburn, S.C.
He was a veteran of the United States Marines, having served during the Korean War.
He worked for many years as a printer in Chicago before retiring and moving to Arkansas in 1979.
He was a member of the VFW, the DAV and the American Legion. ?
He loved hunting, fishing and dancing. ?He was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by: his wife, Ruth of the home; two sons, Craig Walls of Branson, Mo., and Patrick Walls of ?Harrison; one daughter, Cynthia Pipes of Jonesboro; his step-father, John P. Klasey of Crestwood, Ill.; one brother, Thomas Walls of Brookfield, Ill.; four sisters, Barbara Don of Cary, Ill., Carol Chiti of Orland Park, Ill., Sandra Stenga of Naples, Fla., and Shawn Powers of Austin Texas; two step-brothers, Jack Klasey of Kankakee, Ill., and Mike Klasey of Washington; one step-sister, Kathy Lambros of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral Mass was held Dec. 15 at the Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland with Deacon Jim Thompson officiating. Burial followed in the Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat, Ark.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
Pallbearers were Eric Duncan, Darrell Pipes, Jr. Jason Pipes, Will Herane, Matt Bodson and Logan Lawrence.
Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Walls and Aaron Pipes.
