Carrie Isabel Kerley, 88, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Bakersfield, Mo., she lived much of her life in the Bakersfield area before moving to Jonesboro 15 years ago. She was an elementary school teacher for several years and taught in Viola, Mammoth Spring and Bakersfield.
She was a graduate of Drury College in Springfield and a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro. She was a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by: her first husband, Eliga Johnson; her second husband, Clovis Kerley; great granddaughter, Abigail Johnson; and two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, J.R. and Tronnia Johnson of Jonesboro; two grandsons and their wives, Robbie and Stacey Johnson of Jonesboro and Kyle and Caron Johnson of Nashville, Tenn.
A graveside funeral service was held Sunday afternoon, Oct. 14, at County Line Cemetery north of Viola with Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
