OREGON COUNTY -- Asphalt work on Highway 63 between Thayer and West Plains has moved out of Oregon County.
Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) said the work is ahead of schedule and should wrap up by the first of next month, weather permitting. The work began in May and wasn't expected to be completed before October.
MoDOT crews are microsurfacing the road, a preventive maintenance technique. Microsurfacing seals cracks, increases skid resistance and rejuvenates the asphalt surface, extending the life of the surface.
The project is contracted by Missouri Petroleum Products Company and includes 21.32 miles of Highway 63 in Oregon and Howell counties.
