Wilma Imogene Anderson Howard, 78, daughter of the late Willie Artie "Bill" Anderson and Faye Anderson Byrd, was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Larkin, Ark. She died June 16, 2005, in Melbourne, Ark.
She was united in marriage to Add Roman Howard on Jan. 18, 1949, and to this union five children were born. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and funeral director. She was an active funeral director for over 40 years, working in many funeral homes in Izard and surrounding counties. She spent most of her life working with her husband, and then her children, making arrangements doing hair and makeup and setting visitation. She was a member of the Melbourne Community Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Michelle Howard; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pamela Gaye Turner and Anna Faye and Wayne Hopper, all of Melbourne; one sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Donald Black of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren -- Tanya Turner, Billy Turner, Ryan Howard, Cory Hopper, Crystal Turner, Ashley Howard Johnson, Anthony Howard, Tyler Howard and Audrey Howard; two great-grandchildren -- Jacob and Dustin Turner; one niece, Janice Grissum of Jonesboro; one aunt, Alene Grills and one uncle, Lloyd Hargis, both of Melbourne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Billy Ray Howard and one infant son, Michael Ray Howard.
The funeral service was held June 19 at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Wayne Wood and Steve Stevenson officiating. Burial was in the Melbourne Cemetery with arrangements by Eddie's Family Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jerry Bone, Gayle Cooper, Brett Stevenson, Kevin Rush, John Teague, Tom Cone and Michael Moser.
Honorary pallbearers were Billy Turner, Ryan Howard, Cory Hopper, Anthony Howard, Tyler Howard and Austin Moser.
