Charles Ernest Croney, 70, of Myrtle, Mo., died June 18, 2005, in Myrtle. He was born July 10, 1934, in Blytheville, Ark., the son of the late Ernest Croney and Faye Gilmore Croney.
He was united in marriage April 6, 1958, in Garfield, Mo., to Lillie M. Williams.
He was a farmer and a school bus driver for the Couch School District for many years. He enjoyed life, sports, flowers and bird watching. He became a Christian four years ago and attended the Church of God of Prophecy at Myrtle.
He was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa and loved his family, neighbors and friends. He especially enjoyed his six grandchildren and his great-granddaughter, Shaylee. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie of the home in Myrtle; three children -- Angela Rackley and husband, Mike, of Alton, Charles Jeffrey Croney of Myrtle and Amy Story and husband, Kary, of Pocahontas, Ark.; five grandsons -- Gregory Rackley, Bradley Rackley, Chad Croney, Joshua Croney and Jordon Story; one granddaughter, Mallory Story; one great-granddaughter, Shaylee Rack-ley; one brother, Leory Croney and wife, Debbie, of Myrtle; one sister, Brenda Bailey and husband, Mel, of Dalton, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Jeanie Croney of Thayer; one special uncle, J.W. Croney and wife, Wanda, of Foley, Mo.; a special cousin, Frank Gilmore of Springfield, Mo.; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas Croney.
The funeral service was June 21 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Roger Smith and Melvin Sneathern officiating. Burial was in the Cotton Creek Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer, Mo.
