THAYER -- Thayer High School Homecoming and Thayer Alumni activities will be held a little earlier this year.
The homecoming parade will start the activities with the parade down Chestnut Street. Parade line-up will be at 1:30. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade should call Valerie Pitts or Rhonda Simpson at the high school at 264-7261.
The parade will start at 2 p.m. The Grand Marshall for the parade will be coach Steve Atkisson. He has coached for 28 years. This year the school will be celebrating 75 years of Bobcat football.
Starting at 5 p.m. the Thayer Alumni Association will host their annual tailgate party. The Bobcat Booster Club will be selling hamburgers and the alumni association has arranged for a barbecue stand to be ready for the tailgaters by 5 p.m.
The 2007 Homecoming Queen will be crowned at Louis Bozman Field at 6 p.m.
Senior candidates and their escorts are: Capri Pounders, daughter of Jeremy and Susan Pounders, escorted by Tyler Bonds and Nathan Arsenualt; Cassie Langwell, daughter of Coni Langwell, escorted by Jason White and Matt Kojdecki; Krysta Adams, daughter of Kevin and Belinda Adams, escorted by Ryan Tate and Michael Lowether.
Attendants include: Sara Riley escorted by Jacob Eckman; Leslie Caldwell escorted by Patrick Sims and Meghan Honeycutt escorted by Cameron Carey.
The ballgame is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. when the Bobcats will take on the Fair Grove Eagles.
This will be the first year homecoming activities will be held with the new constructed field house at the stadium.
The Alumni Association will have a table at the game for alumni to register and pay their dues which are $10.
According to Regina Caldwell, alumni secretary, following the ballgame there will be a reception for all alumni in the elementary cafeteria.
"Many classes have special events planned for their classes on reunion day. The Mighty Mite game that day will start at 10 a.m. Saturday evening the annual alumni dinner will be held in in the high school gym starting at 6:30 p.m. This year the entire meal will be provided and those planning to attend will not need to bring a covered dish," Caldwell said.
She said the $10 alumni fee covers the cost of the meal but those planning to bring a guest will be required to pay an additional $5 if the guest is not an alumni member.
