Born 10-7-1925 -- Died 2-12-2005
Bernard Raydean Prewett, 79, son of the late Boyce Bernard and Mattie Eunice Butler Prewett, was born on Oct. 7, 1925, in Union, Ark. He died Feb. 12, 2005, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
He was married to Buna Ann Stroud Aug. 9, 1943, at Wheeling, and to this union a son was born. He spent his working years as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a farmer and worked for the Izard County Road Crew for 10 years. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of VFW Post 4687 of Oxford, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Buna Prewett of Oxford, a son, Carroll Ray Prewett of Oxford, three granddaughters -- Darla York of Salem, Cassandra Prewett of Little Rock and Lori Yates of Mountain Home; five great-grandchildren -- Shelby York, Carson York, Layton York, Madelyn Yates and Addison Yates.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Gaylon Lynn Prewett.
The funeral was Feb. 13, at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with John Hodges officiating. Burial was in the Union Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Pallbearers were Bill Stroud, Jack McCollun, Jack Yancey, Wayne Prewett, Mike Warden and Jim Owens.
Memorials are preferred to the Union Cemetery Fund.
