Virgie Mae Gaston Landers, daughter of the late William Harrison Gaston and Maude Ora Weathers Gaston, was born May 28, 1911, in LaCrosse, Ark. She died June 29, 2005, in Calico Rock, Ark., at the age of 94 years.

She was united in marriage to Robert Harris Landers on Nov. 16, 1931, in Salem, Mo., until his death in 1982. To this union two children were born.

After Virgie graduated from high school she taught school at Possum Trot and LaCrosse.

She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Melbourne.

Survivors include one sister, Lois Marie Wiseman of Fairfield, Calif.; three grandchildren -- Dirk Landers (Tammy) of Addison, Ill., Stacey Mungerson of Downers Grove, Ill., and Jason Landers (Leigh Ann) of Eburn, Ill.; three great-grandchildren; Loren, Jodi and Morgan; four local nieces -- Jane Lamb of Mt. Pleasant, Sue Barksdale of Melbourne, Barbara Clark of Little Rock and Marion Cleary of Little Rock; one nephew, James H. Gaston of Greenwood, Ark.; one special sister-in-law, Helen Perryman of Calico Rock and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Mary Louise Landers, one son, Robert Gaston Landers, four brothers -- Troy Austin Gastin, Dewey Clyde Gaston, Guy Gaston and Carl Gaston; and two sisters -- Theresa Carter and Audrey Hanley.

The funeral service was held July 2 at First Baptist Church in Melbourne with Ricky Burke and Gayle Cooper officiating.

Burial was in the Melbourne Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Melbourne.

Pallbearers were Bryant Lamb, Gerald Cooper, Tommy Wren II, Tom Wren, Mike Connor and Terry Smith.

Honorary pallbearers were Pitney Wren, Delmo Tate, Randy Zook, Von Weaver, and Charles Harris.
