Charges Taylor Jr., died March 1, 2006, at St. Anthony Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 68.
He was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Alton, the son of the late Charlie and Mildred Edwards Taylor.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War.
He was a truckdriver and a member of the Teamsters Local 604.
He was a member of Many Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include on son, Charles Dean Taylor and wife, Kate, of St. Louis; one daughter, Jane Kontsas and husband, Chuck, of St. Louis; one grandson, Jacob Kontsas of St. Louis; two sisters, Louise Weaver of Springfield Mo., and June Williams of Doniphan, Mo; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Taylor, one nephew, Alan Howell; and one brother-in-law, Maxcie Williams.
The funeral services were held March 4 at the Many Springs Baptist Church in Alton with burial following in the Many Springs Cemetery. Bro. Robert Wiggs and Bro. John Lewis Casey both officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
Pallbearers included David Taylor, Glenn Taylor, Dale Johnson, Don Woods, Roscoe Simmons and Jewell Williams.
