Orvis Glinn "OG" Tyree, 84, of Mountain Home died Feb. 18, 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1921, at Elizabeth to William Rose and Carrie Arizona (Howland) Tyree.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant j.g. during World War II in the Pacific Theater and later worked as a teacher in Salem and Clover Bend, Ark., and in California and Illinois, and was a manager for North Arkansas Electric Cooperative in the mid 1950s.
He married Joy Bartley in Mammoth Spring on May 18, 1947. Tyree accepted Christ as his Savior on Nov. 29, 2003, and was baptized Dec. 4, 2003. He was a member of the Mountain Home Church of Christ.
Tyree is survived by his wife, Joy of the home; a son, Dan (April) Tyree of Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Allison, Meredith and Marshall Tyree; three brothers, Eldon (Frankie) Tyree of West Plains, Mo., Windell (Zerah Lee) Tyree of Columbia, Mo., and Gene (Pat) Tyree of Elizabeth; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Euna Cotter; and four brothers, Lowell ("Pete"), Elmo, Harold and Eldrige Tyree.
Funeral services were held at Mountain Home Church of Christ with Bro. Ken Burton officiating. Graveside services with military honors followed at Elizabeth Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tod Jackson, Lynn Tyree, Luke Tyree, Darin Smith, Bob Prantl and Don Prantl.
Honorary pallbearers were Eldon Tyree, Gene Tyree, Windell Tyree, Ransey Cotter and Lynn Prantl.
