THAYER -- The Thayer City Council voted during their February council meeting to set Clean-Up, Paint-Up, Fix-Up or Pride Week for April 2-6 in the city. Trash will be picked up on regular trash days during the week.
Trash haulers remind residents that a roll-off container will be placed beside the police station starting March 30. It will remain there all week for large items such as furniture. Motor oil can be taken to the Oregon County Recycling Center.
All trash is to be boxed, bagged or canned.
"Council members and local fire fighters are asking that every resident and property owner within the city limits, as well as civic clubs, schools, churches and scout organizations take an active part in the spring cleaning that will include the residential and business sections of the city," Thayer Mayor Allen Deckard said.
Heavy steel, rocks, concrete, tires, refrigerators and yard waste will not be accepted during the pick-up.
City officials said items such as refrigerators may be set on the curb and they will be picked up only by calling city hall at 264-3921.
Deckard said the council also reminds city residents that weeds and grass on residential and vacant lots should be trimmed through the growing season.
Refuse will be picked up on the south side of Thayer starting April 3 and on the north side of the city on regular trash pick up day.
