Cherokee Village man arrested on rape charges

Thursday, June 29, 2006

Cherokee Village police arrested a man wanted for rape in St. Francis County June 15.

Sgt. K.C. Shultz arrested Randall Lipe at a home in Cherokee Village and transported him to the Sharp County Jail before he was extradited to St. Francis County.

According to the arrest affidavit, Lipe raped a mentally challenged 19-year-old boy who lived with his mother in St. Francis County on Nov. 6, 1999, while the mother was gone from the home.

Lipe served time in the Arkansas Department of Correction on unrelated charges in 2003. The DNA sample taken at the prison linked Lipe to the 1999 crime, according to authorities.
