Mary Jean Vincent Pressley was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Monroe City, Mo., the daughter of the late Elliott P. Hickman and Frances Marie Humphrey Hickman. She died Sept. 7, 2007, in Larned, Kan., at the age of 85.
She was united in marriage Oct. 26, 1940, to Merrell Vincent who preceded her in death Oct. 23, 1981. She was united in marriage Dec. 6, 1987, to William H. Pressley who preceded her in death Dec. 10, 2000.
Being the oldest of nine children, Mary Jean was accustomed to hard work. Not only did she help care for her younger brothers and sisters, she was always willing and ready to help others.
She was a member of Koshkonong Free Will Baptist Church where she served as secretary and treasurer for many years. Later she became a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Larned.
She is survived by: three children, Regina Riley and husband, Lester of Thayer, Mo., Gary Vincent and wife, Vicki of Gilliam, Mo. and Shana O'Neill and husband, Michael of Larned, Kan.; six grandchildren, Rickey, Lesa, Keri, Elliot, Briana and Ty; six great-grandchildren, Sara, Emily, Chad, Tyler, Cameron and Haylian; three brothers, Charles Hickman, Carroll Hickman and Lloyd Hickman; two sisters, Lucille Cox and Thelma Parks; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husbands; and three brothers, Irvin, Harold and Bobbie Hickman.
Funeral services were held Sept. 11 at the Carter Funeral?Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo. Burial followed in the Shiloh Grand Gulf Cemetery near Thayer with arrangements under by Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
