Sherry L. Cowens, 50, was killed along Highway 395 after colliding with another vehicle, said Arkansas State Trooper Daniel Busch.
According to Busch's report, around 1:40 p.m. , Sunday, Cowens and her young passenger, Nolan Bassham, was traveling southbound about two miles south of Lanton, near the Missouri state line.
Cowen failed to negotiate a curve and crossed over the center line, striking a vehicle driven by Mitchell C. Temples, 39, of West Plains, Mo., who was driving in the northbound lane.
A third vehicle driven by Julie Henslee, 31, also of West Plains was traveling behind Cowens. Henslee failed in her attempt to avoid the wreck and collided with the left rear of Cowens' vehicle. Henslee was not injured.
Cowens was pronounced dead at the scene.
Everett said Temples was unconscious when he reached the wreck. "He had some pretty bad face trauma," Everett said. "(Temples) looked like his face got drug on the road."
Both Temples and Bassham were taken to the Fulton County Hospital. Bassham was treated and released.
As of press time, Temples was listed in fair condition at the Fulton County Hospital.
