Thayer USBC charter granted

The Thayer United States Bowling Congress Association received notice on June 20 that they had been granted a bowling sanctions from the newly formed USBC. This new group unites men, women and youth into one bowling organization.

USBC's mission as the national governing body is to ensure the integrity and protect the future of the sport of bowling as well as to provide programs and services which enhance the bowling experience. The Certificate of Charter recognizes Thayer USBC's willingness to advance the sport of bowling. USBC values credibility, excellence, inclusiveness, philanthropy, dedication, heritage, integrity and sportsmanship.

The newly elected board includes Linda Walters, president; Judy Smith, vice president, Rosa Hudson, proprietor; and board members Jennifer Huckabee, Cory Ary, Stephen McCullough, Boyd Clark, Dorothy Manker and Lovie Guffey.

Fall leagues will begin the third week in August, and the board invites interested bowlers to contact Thayer Lanes. Leagues will meet as follows: Monday Non-Smoking League at 6 p.m. Aug. 15, Tuesday Mixed League at 6 p.m. on Aug. 16, Wednesday Mixed League at noon on Aug. 17, Thursday Night Men's League at 6 p.m. on Aug. 18 and Friday Night Early Birds at 6 p.m. Aug. 19.

The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on July 13 at the Country Cottage to approve the budget and to launch the new year which starts on Aug. 1.
