Mammoth Spring School Board elects officers

Thursday, October 19, 2006

MAMMOTH SPRING -- The Mammoth Spring School Board reorganized and elected officers at their Oct. 9 board meeting.

Ramona Combs was elected president, John Walsh vice president and Mark Cooper secretary.

Combs was also elected as the dispersing officer at the school and Donell Russell was elected the alternate dispersing officer. The dispersing officer's duties are to sign checks with the superintendent.

Superintendent Ron Taylor gave a report to the board about the Oct. 7 school surplus auction at the school. Taylor told the board the school sold $4,490 worth of surplus school merchandise.

The board voted to adopt a revised library challenge policy. Taylor said this is a state requirement that deals with material some school district patrons consider offensive.

The board also voted to approve the Arkansas Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (ACSIP) for the 2006-07 school year. Taylor said the ACSIP requires all school districts in the state that receive federal state and federal funds to show goals the district has set and how the district plans to achieve those goals.

The board decided they would study the regional school board meetings that will be held in the area in the upcoming months but did not decide at what school they will be attending the meetings.

All elected school board members in the state are required to attend six hours of in-service training a year.
