THAYER -- A West Plains woman was killed Oct. 25 in a two-vehicle accident in Thayer.
According to Thayer Police Chief Frank Bernard, dead is Chata Johnson, 30, of West Plains.
Bernard said Johnson was killed when the 1998 Dodge Neon she was driving crossed the centerline of Highway 63 and struck the trailer of a 1999 International tractor-trailer driven by Clyde Griggs, 37, of Vandale, Ark.
In a statement given to Bernard, Griggs said he saw the Johnson vehicle cross the center of the highway and he swerved to try and get out of her way, but he could not.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by Oregon County Coroner Tom Clary at 11:33 p.m.
A? passenger in the Johnson vehicle, 2-year old Adrianna Johnson, the daughter of the fatality victim, received moderate injuries in the accident and was taken by Oregon County Ambulance to a Springfield hospital.
Bernard said seat belts were in use in both vehicles at the time of the accident as well as a child safety seat in the Johnson vehicle.
Bernard said Johnson grew up in Mammoth Spring and had been to Mammoth Spring to visit relatives prior to the accident.
