Policy for political ads, announcements

Thursday, March 2, 2006

The South Missourian News reminds candidates for political office in Arkansas and Missouri about the policy for political announcements and political advertising for the upcoming elections.

Each candidate for office will be allowed one news article with a one-column photo at no charge. A candidate can bring in a photo or have a staff photographer take the photo at the newspaper office.

The free announcement/news article must be submitted in person or by mail, fax or e-mail by April 4. Announcements received after that deadline will not be published for free.

Political advertisements must be paid for in advance of publication and will be charged at the regular advertising rate. All political advertisements must contain the disclaimer "paid political ad," and local political ads must also contain the complete address and phone number of the person placing the ad.

The deadline for political advertising is noon Friday for the following week's issue.
