MYRTLE -- The Couch School Board met in regular session Nov. 12 with all board members present.
The board set the dates for filing for school board positions from Dec. 18 at 8 a.m. through Jan. 22 at 3:30 p.m. in the superintendent's office. There will be three school board positions on the ballot. The three, three-year positions up for election are currently held by Casey Roberts, Dean Britt and Joe Garrison. The school board election will be April 8, 2008.
Couch School Facilities and Safety Coordinator Russell Deckard presented an evaluation of the facilities and safety program. Deckard discussed some procedures currently in place to ensure that the school, students and facility are safe while at school.
Superintendent Tom Bull discussed a recent fire inspection that was held at the school. He informed the board there was a problem with a walk-in freezer in the cafeteria and a problem with the air compressor in the bus garage. He told the board two new motors have been installed for the freezer and a new air compressor has been purchased.
Bull told the board the new school sign donated by FNBC will be delivered to the school Dec. 9. Bull and the board expressed appreciation to FNBC for their donation.
