James Ruthford Howard, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., son of the late Clyde Cecil and Audie Mae (Reeves)?Howard and Hubert Evans, was born Oct. 19, 1937, at Saddle, Ark. He died Nov. 20, 2007, at his home in Mammoth Spring at the age of 70.

Ruthford was united in marriage to?Mary Jo Weaver on Sept. 24, 1958, at Salem, Ark., and to this union two daughters were born.

He was later married to Brenda Mae Faulkenberry on Jan. 8, 1975, at Salem, and to this union a son was born.

He worked as a truck driver all of his life and received the 2 million mile safe driving award from Hirschbach Trucking Company.

He was an avid sports fan and was a member of the Salem Church of Christ.

He is survived by: his wife, Brenda Howard of Mammoth Spring; a son, J.R. Howard of West Plains, Mo.; two daughters, Tina Crenshaw (Richard) of St. Charles, Mo., and Shanna Maguffee (Bob) of Mammoth Spring; five grandchildren, Nicole Wheeler, Melanie Maguffee, Tyler Jo Wheeler, Chelsea Maguffee and Lexi Howard; great-granddaughter,?Patience Lawson; a brother, G.W. (Cotton) Howard (Daisy) of Glencoe, Ark.; mothers-in-law, Goldie Weaver of Salem, Ark., and Linda Faulkenberry of Tightwad, Mo.; special caregiver, Brenda Kohler; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; grandson,?James Nathan Davis; father-in-law, John Tom Fulkenberry; and mother-in-law, Melba Mae Faulkenberry.

Funeral services were held Nov. 23 at the Salem Church of Christ in Salem, with Bro. David Gibson officiating.

Burial followed in the Morriston Cemetery in Morriston, Ark., with arrangements being under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were Michael Howard, Lyndell Howard, Jason Bowers, Aaron Bowers, Justin Hurtt, Jeff Bowers, Jeff Faulkenberry, Billy Yelton, T.J. Faulkenberry, Anthony Faulk-enberry, Brian Yelton, Sean Faulkenberry, Sam Uselton, Troy Faulkenberry and Ben Uselton.

Honorary pallbearers were Harrell Ray Estes, Joe Barbee C.O. (Tuffy) Smith Ronnie Faulkenberry, Tommy Faulkenberry and Terry Faulkenberry.
