Wendell L. Bauman, 89, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Nov. 23, 2007, at his residence. He was born July 29, 1918, in Hagerstown, Ill., the son of Emil and Junie Bauman.
He was united in marriage to his wife, Laverna, at St. Louis, Mo., in 1938.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He worked many years for Staley's Manufacturing in instruments and control before retiring. He moved to Cherokee Village from Decatur, Ill., 27 years ago. He was a member of the Cherokee Village First Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and had won several championships.
He is survived by: his wife, Laverna of the home; two sons, Jerry Bauman and wife, Char, of Springhill, Fla., and James Wendell Bauman of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two daughters, Judith Bauman of Dunlap, Ill., and Joanne Kensil and husband, Ed, of East Peoria, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Graveside services were held Nov. 27 at the North Fork Cemetery in Long Creek Township near Decatur, Ill., with Jerry Bauman officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Ark.
