Darrell Wesley Gill, was born April 25, 1932, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., the son of the late John Wesley Gill and Anna Victoria Holcom Gill. He died Nov. 19, 2007, in Salem, Ark., at the age of 75.
He was united in marriage Aug. 26, 1953, at Elgin, Ill., to Wanda Lou Hightower.
After many years of employment with General Motors in Pontiac, Mich., he returned to ?Howell County to raise his children on the family farm. He enjoyed his farm, cattle and was known as a great horseman and for his love for horses.
He was a member of the Koshkonong Masonic Lodge 582 and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by: his wife, Wanda of the family home in Koshkonong, Mo.; one son, Larry Darrell Gill of Salem, Mo.; one daughter, Theresa Sue Williams of Salem, Ark.; four grandchildren, Nathan Darrell Gill, Crystal Sue Williams, Charolete Fern Williams and Isaphene Gail Pierce; five sisters, Callie Johnson of Pocahontas, Ark., Carrie Hastings of Three Sisters, Ore., Hazel Cypret of Salem, Dallean See of Walnut Ridge, Ark., and Fern Ellis of Salem, Ark.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; eight brothers, Coy Gill, Goldie Gill, Olus Gill, Doil Gill, Millard Gill, Virgil Floyd, Aaron Newberry and Paul Newberry; and four sisters, Cordie Thompson, Eunice Tillman, Ira Williams and Trula Yokum.
Funeral services were held Nov. 23 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Bobby Coleman and Johnny ?Holesapple officiating.
Burial followed in the Wayside Cemetery near Koshkonong, Mo., with arrangements being made under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
